Product Spotlight: PaperStone

Ever wonder what happens to the paper you recycle? Yes, some of it shows up again in your copy room, but its reaches extend far beyond that (Speaking of, everyone should use recycled paper. It’s competitively priced and takes away some of the guilt when you print anything from one page MapQuest directions to 100 page reports). In fact, this week’s product PaperStone® is an incredibly hard, beautiful, functional surface made of recycled paper. Granite has long been the premium choice for countertops and cutting boards, but PaperStone® provides us with a new, better, economical and environmentally friendly option! In fact, we just put a beautiful PaperStone countertop in our brand new franchise in Norwell, MA.

Paperstone® is the ‘greenest’ architectural surface on the market today. Their two series of recycled paper-based products are 1) 'Original', which is made from 100% post-consumer recycled cardboard and 2) 'Certified', which is made from 100% post-consumer standard office paper. It has been certified through the Smartwood program of the Rainforest Alliance to meet
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards.

Paperstone® has even more benefits than granite, without the lasting detrimental impact on the environment. The product is very abrasion resistant and absorbs very little water. Not to mention its fire resistance is exceptional (yes, we were surprised too!). For the kitchen,

PaperStone® is highly resistant to staining. The phenolic resisn (made with a cashew nut base) and paper composites that make up PaperStone® are routinely specified for very demanding, high-use, exterior applications like skateboard ramps (if it can hold up to skaters, it can surely survive your demanding household needs).

Don’t forget, PaperStone's® applications go far beyond the kitchen. It can be used for wall cladding, conference tables, signs, window sills, and toilet partitions! With its incredible workability and great layering potential PaperStone® is an architect’s dream.
And it can be used both indoors and outside for outdoor living areas.

Come on in and design something beautiful today!
