IceStone countertops, an intriguing name for an incredible material. The world’s only Cradle to Cradle ™ GOLD certified surface (http://www.c2ccertified.com/); IceStone durable surfaces are made from 100% recycled glass in a cement matrix. IceStone has become a well-known name in the green building and design industry because they've produced a very high-quality, beautiful countertop material that does an excellent job of highlighting the use of recycled materials.

We encourage you to liven up your home with any one of the 29 available colors of IceStone. These countertops go anywhere – backsplashes, bathroom vanities, tabletops, bar tops, interior walls, or anywhere else you could use mined stone. For those of you looking to redo a commercial space, IceStone offers an infinite color palette through the mixing of non-toxic pigments and various glass colors and sizes. Due to the recycled glass content, no two slabs are exactly alike. Come in to ‘g’ and we’ll work on your one-of-a-kind countertop.

Customers often ask about it's heat, stain and scratch resistance. Waxing the surface is recommended for superior stain protection. And, although IceStone itself is heat resistant, the sealant you use may not be, so it is always safer to use a trivet or hotplate when possible. It can be treated comparably to a granite or marble as far as scratching you can definitely cut on it in a pinch but to protect it in the long term and to protect our knives, it's best to opt for a cutting board.

Why is it better than other options? Well, choosing a product made with recycled rather than raw materials makes a greener option. Recycling the materials gives them a purpose other than a landfill. IceStone is also manufactured with resins and glues that do not have any VOCs (ie: harmful chemicals that degrade your indoor air quality and are bad for you to breath in).

Additionally, not only does IceStone put pride into their final product, they also have been careful to green their production process. IceStone facilities are day lit and equipped with a grey water recycling systems. They are working to recycle the byproduct of the manufacturing process and in the mean time have replaced all petroleum-based machine lubricants with soy based ones.

We hope the guests in your home will ask you about your great countertop and give you the opportunity to brag about its great green qualities. Let’s be honest though: they’re only going to ask if they’re impressed, and they’ll be impressed if it’s elegant and attractive. That said, we’ll let the product and colors speak for themselves. Check out the swatches above and come on in to our showroom - we'll let you borrow a sample or two to take home and visualize your completed project in your space! I have been told even if you get this great eco countertop the sealants that need to be put on them are extremely toxic. Does icestone (or g) have any eco sealants?
